+Open Library was cofounded by Aaron Swartz. As part of the Internet Archive, it has done good work to spread knowledge. However it is currently [being sued by four major publishers](https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2020/06/internet-archive-ends-emergency-library-early-to-appease-publishers/) for the [National Emergency Library](https://archive.org/details/nationalemergencylibrary). IA decided to [close the NEL two weeks earlier than planned](https://blog.archive.org/2020/06/10/temporary-national-emergency-library-to-close-2-weeks-early-returning-to-traditional-controlled-digital-lending/), but the lawsuit is not over, which in the worst case scenario has the danger of resulting in Controlled Digital Lending being considered illegal and (less likely) bancruptcy of the Internet Archive. If this happens it will be a big setback of the free-culture movement.
